White Oak Business Park Grows by Doubling in Size
Development Authority of Columbia County
Adds 341 Acres to White Oak Business Park at I-20
Evans, GA (December 29, 2020) – The Development Authority of Columbia County is pleased to announce that White Oak Business Park has grown to a robust 612 acres! Today, December 29, 2020, the Development Authority of Columbia County closed on 341.77 acres immediately adjacent to the existing business park at Exit 183 on Appling Harlem Road. Due to the support and commitment of the Columbia County Commission, this expansion will allow for additional economic development efforts at one of the premier business parks in the state of Georgia.
White Oak Business Park was first established three years ago by the Development Authority of Columbia County in December 2017. The need to identify 1,000 acres for manufacturing and office developments was first presented by the Development Authority’s economic development strategic plan in November 2016. The strategic location of the new park was further supported by the Vision 2035 plan, Columbia County’s growth management plan that identified the area as an employment center. Together, the leadership at the Development Authority of Columbia County and the Columbia County Commission forged a path forward that allowed the acquisition of the initial 271 acres.
Since the establishment of the new business park in January 2018, the Development Authority of Columbia County has been hard at work recruiting new businesses to Columbia County, as well as supporting the growth of existing companies. The Development Authority announced the first tenant in March 2018, Club Car’s 550,000 SF distribution facility and the creation of 100 jobs. In April 2020, the Development Authority shared that Amazon would construct a fulfillment facility and create 800 jobs. With these two announcements, Phase 1 of White Oak Business Park became 70% occupied, all before the park’s 3rd birthday.
The acquisition of an additional 341 acres illustrates a commitment to White Oak Business Park’s future and the growth of job creation in Columbia County. The adjoining acreage will allow the Development Authority to continue its efforts of marketing Columbia County as a top location to live and to work, while also allowing the authority to pursue projects of all sizes and abilities.
